Ms. Visconti's Class - Fall Art Work

Esther, Kelsey, Kylie, Matthew, and Stephen: We noticed that our tree has leaves that are a mix of red, orange, and yellow. We also noticed that our tree has lost a lot of it’s leaves and looks bare.

The students designed a fall doll to show how he or she dresses in the fall. The students then wrote a short paragraph explaining why they chose the clothing they did.

My doll, Aly, is dressed for Halloween. Her dress is black with ghost eyes and the word “boo” on it. Halloween is in the fall. It is a scary time when people dress up in costumes. People give out candy for trick or treating. Aly has been eating candy corn so her teeth are orange. She has orange hair showing from her hat, which is part of her costume.

I dressed my doll in a purple sweater. She needs a sweater because it gets cold in the fall.

I chose this clothing for my doll because the fall is cold and I like to rake up leaves. The clothing I chose is appropriate for the fall because you need long pants and a jacket to keep warm.

I dressed my doll like this because he needs to work on raking the leaves in his yard. He has long sleeves and long pants because it is a little cold outside.

Throughout our study of fall, the children had many opportunities to read fall poems. As a writing activity, the students were asked to write their own fall poems. Some chose to write about specific fall topics, like apples, and others chose to write about the season of fall. Here are a couple of examples.
