The Task

Write a lengthy newspaper article on two historical periods and the geography of Japan. In your article you should:

The Process

To accomplish your task, follow these steps:

  1. You will choose two time periods from the Virtual History of Japan in addition to the Geography page.
  2. Visit web sites and take notes about interesting historical events.
  3. Make notes on the facts detailed.
  4. Write an article detailing the history of the two time periods you chose and the effect geography has had on Japan.

    In writing your article, keep in mind:

    • What terms are present that the average person would not know?
    • What are the significant events in the time periods?
    • Identify the role of two significant people.
    • How does geography affect Japanese history?

Conclusion

The goal of this Web Quest is to have students research the historical events that make up Japanese history and the effect geography has had on that country. They will come away with a better understanding of the events and people in Japanese history.

Students will create travel magazine articles about two historical periods and the effect geography has on Japan. They will investigate the facts in history that shaped Japan. Students will also learn how to use technology in order to make their journey into the past possible.
