The
Colorado quarter was the 38th state quarter to be released by the U.S.
Mint. Colorado became a state on August 1, 1876, and the Colorado quarter
was the third one to be released in the year 2006. Citizens suggested
ideas for the Colorado state quarter and sent them to Governor Owens.
The Department of the Treasury made the final decision. Norm Nemeth
was the person who engraved it. On the quarter of Colorado you will
see a picture of the Rocky Mountains and a grove of evergreen trees.
It is important because the Rocky Mountains are a major mountain range
in Colorado. On the banner on the state quarter it says “Colorful
Colorado.” This is one of the state’s nicknames. |
