The
Idaho flag has a blue silk background with a gold fringe around
it. The state seal is in the center with the words “State
of Idaho” on a banner under it. The words “Esto
Perpetua” appear on the state seal. These words mean “It
is forever.” On the seal there is a picture of two baskets
(cornucopias) of food and a bundle of wheat. This is a symbol
of the many farms that grow a lot of food. On the right there
is a picture of a miner to show that gold was discovered in
1860 and started the gold rush. In the middle is a shield that
shows Idaho’s largest river, the Snake River. You will
also see mountains, a field, and a pine tree. Above the shield
there is an elk’s head that represents wildlife. On the
left there is a women that represents liberty, justice, and
equality. Next to the lady there is the state flower, the Syringa.
The flag was adopted in 1907.
