The Idaho quarter was the forty-third state quarter to be released by the U.S. Mint. Idaho became a state on July 3, 1890, and the Idaho quarter was the third one to be released in the year 2007. The design of this quarter was chosen from many ideas sent by Idaho residents to the Idaho Commission on the Arts. On the state quarter of Idaho you will see the outlined map of Idaho and a peregrine falcon. The peregrine falcon is important in the state of Idaho because it was once an endangered species. It is valued to them because they love and respect nature. You will also see the words of the state motto “ESTO PERPETUA.” This means “May it be Forever.” It is their prayer that they would enjoy their land forever.
