The
Texas quarter was the 28th state quarter to be released by the U.S.
Mint.
Texas became a state on December 29, 1845, and the Texas quarter
was the third one to be released in the year 2004. The design of
the quarter was chosen by Governor Rick Perry after a design contest
in Texas. Along the edge of the state quarter of Texas you will see
a rope to show the cattle and cowboy history. You will also see the
outline of the state of Texas to show the shape of the state. You
will also see an enlarged star shape, which is also on the state
flag. You will also see the state’s nickname written on the
quarter: The Lone Star State. This means that all through the history
of Texas their flag has always had a single star on it. |
