The white color of the star and the top stripe are symbols of purity and strength. This is important in the state of Texas. Adina de Zavala, a writer, said that “the five points of the star represent the characteristics of a good citizen, which are fortitude, loyalty, righteousness, prudence, and broadmindedness.” There is also a blue rectangle behind the white star.
