The
Arkansas state quarter was the 25th state quarter to be released by
the United States Mint. Arkansas became a state on June 15, 1836, and
the Arkansas state quarter was the 5th one to be released in the year
2003. Governor Mike Huckabee chose the design of the quarter. On the
state quarter of Arkansas, you will see a mallard flying above a lake
on the right side of the quarter. It is important to the state of Arkansas
because there are as many as 600,000 acres of lakes. You will also
see a diamond in the middle of the quarter. It is important in the
state of Arkansas because the oldest diamond mine in the United States
is in Arkansas. Another thing you will see is a rice stalk on the left
side of the quarter. It is important to the state of Arkansas because
thousands of acres of the Grand Prairie were changed in order to grow
rice. Because of this, Arkansas became the leading producer of rice
in the U.S.A. |
