We charted the temperature and sunrise/sunset times each day over the course of a week. We noticed that it is still pretty hot even though we’re getting closer to the first day of autumn. We also noticed that while there are always 24 hours in a day, the amount of time we have daylight is getting shorter by a few minutes each day.

We charted the temperature and sunrise/sunset times each day over the course of a week. We noticed that while it has gotten colder since we did our observations in October, it hasn’t gotten as cold as usual for this time of year. We have had to dress differently, also. We’re still wearing long pants, long sleeves, and jackets, but we’re also wearing sweaters, hats, scarves, and mittens too. We also noticed that while there are always 24 hours in a day, the amount of time we have daylight is now increasing by a few minutes each day.
We charted the temperature and sunrise/sunset times each day over the course of a week. We noticed that it has warmed up a lot since our observations in January. We have been dressing differently, too. On some days, we’re still wearing long pants, long sleeve t-shirts, and light jackets or sweatshirts, since it is still cool in the morning. But we’re also starting to wear capris, short sleeves, and shorts. We also noticed that while there are always 24 hours in a day, the amount of time we have daylight continues to increase by a few minutes each day.
Our Tree in Summer

As part of our second grade Science curriculum, we study the seasonal changes by observing a tree and documenting those observations.

Our Tree in Fall

Look at our tree in fall. We noticed that our tree has changed since we observed it in September when it was still summer.

Our Tree in Winter

Our Tree in Spring

We made some observations about our class tree. We noticed that the tree looks like it’s coming back to life! It has a lot of light green buds and small green leaves on it. We drew what our tree looked like. Take a look.
